All About Me
My name is Amanda Correia, and I am a recent grad of Emerson College, earning a B.S. in Marketing Communications. I was born in Huntington Beach, CA and lived there with my parents and my younger sister until I moved to Boston to attend school. During my time there, I moved four different times around the city, and also to a 14th Century castle in Well, The Netherlands for a study abroad program. This was a fantastic opportunity, as I have always loved traveling and experiencing other cultures. During my three months there, I traveled to 11 different countries, my favorites being Portugal, Poland, and Denmark. My final semester, I moved to Los Angeles to participate in an internship program, which led me to an amazing experience at the Jim Henson Company.
In December 2011, I graduated from Emerson and made my big move to Los Angeles. Since then, I have worked as an Executive Assistant at the Jim Henson Company for company CEO Lisa Henson and President Peter Schube, and Executive Assistant at the Disney Channel for three programming executives. While I am not sure about what the future holds, these experiences have given me an opportunity to learn more about the world of children's entertainment, meet some truly inspiring creative minds, and understand the fast-paced tendencies and shifts of the industry.
Amanda playing Quidditch |
In school, I participated in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. One of my favorite things was Co-Facilitating the Freshman Class Committee for two years, which is a semester-long leadership training program for Freshman that I did my first year at Emerson. I also really enjoyed working as Editor-in-Chief of the college yearbook, The Emersonian, as it pushed my boundaries as a leader. Other extracurriculars include working as a set designer for a student-written show, dancing in the Emerson Dance Company, managing the Women's Basketball team, and playing the famous Harry Potter sport, Quidditch.
